NYS student privacy bill A7872

In response to New York State’s plan to share confidential student data with inBloom, Inc., in June, AM Cathy Nolan introduced a new student privacy bill  A. 7872, into the Assembly. On June 12, 2013 the bill passed in the NYS Assembly Education Committee!

This bill would allow parents to opt out their children’s personal data from being shared with inBloom Inc. and for-profit vendors.  As such, it represents a big step forward in protecting the privacy rights of children.

Contact your State Senators today; and ask them to introduce and co-sponsor the same bill in the Senate.  We only have one more week of the Legislative session, so you need to call them today; you can find their contact information at www.nysenate.gov.

Please also contact the Chair of Senate Education Committee Flanagan at (631) 361-2154.  But do it today!

Urge them to support A7872 NOW!
