Tell the mayor and the NYC Council to stop the cuts to the classroom now!

Over the the next 30 days, the mayor and the City Council will decide the fate of our schools; will which help determine our children’s future for years to come.   Please sign our new petition; this is the crunch time!

Bloomberg proposes to cut $350 million directly from  the classroom, by removing 6,000 teachers from our schools through attrition and layoffs.  This would mean cuts to all schools and would lead to the sharpest rises in class size in over thirty years.

Arts, music, performing arts, physical education, career and technical education, libraries and intervention services would also be hard hit. The Mayor’s budget represents a major step backwards in New York’s commitment to quality education and is morally unconscionable.

We will have an update soon about what other actions you can take to prevent these disastrous cuts from occurring.
